Year 4/5 Girls Football

On Wednesday, some of our Year 4/5 girls took part in the Gateshead Girls Football Tournament. They had a fantastic afternoon and displayed wonderful sportsmanship. Their hard work paid off and one of our teams secured bronze medals after coming 3rd out of all the teams that competed. Well done to all of them.

Year 1 – Deciduous or Evergreen Trees

This week we have been learning about the 2 different types of trees. The children were excellent at identifying deciduous and evergreen trees in our school gardens and they were able to explain how they could identify the tree based on its leaves.

Year 1 – Disney Multi Skills

Year 1 enjoyed a morning out of class to join many other local schools at Gateshead Stadium to participate in a KS1 Multi Skills Disney event.

Year 1 World Book Day 2024

Year 2 visit to Beamish

Year 2 children had a wonderful day at Beamish Museum where they got to experience life in a Victorian classroom which included standing to speak to answer a questions and addressing the teacher as Ma’am. The sun shone so they were able to enjoy their lunch outside in the grounds.

Year 1 – Northumberland Zoo

Last week, year 1 loved their day out at Northumberland Zoo. We had the opportunity to observe many animals and learnt about their diets. The children were able to share which animal group each animal belongs to, as well as if they are herbivores, omnivores or carnivores.

Commonwealth Day

Year 6 were lucky enough to attend the Commonwealth Ceremony at Gateshead Civic Centre. Elizabeth read the commonwealth pledge beautifully then we were invited in to the council chambers with the Mayor of Gateshead. We asked her questions and learned about her job as Mayor of Gateshead.

Play in a Day

Year 6 had a fantastic day at Cardinal Hume where they spent the day rehearsing a play which they then performed for their parents at the end of the day. All of the children were amazing and demonstrated some fabulous acting skills.

Alnwick Gardens

Year 6 had a great time at Alnwick Gardens. They played Adventure Golf, visited the poison garden and explored the Labyrinth.

Our First Violin Lesson!

Today, Year 3 had a violin lesson in school. We learned how to hold our violin and use our fingers and the bow to make sound. Look how much we enjoyed ourselves!

World Book Day in Year 3

Year 6 – Motorised Vehicle

Year 6 have enjoyed working on their frames for a motorised vehicle. We have safely used saws and enjoyed joining all of our components together. For our next step, we will use our knowledge of electrical circuits to attach a motor and switch element.

Year 2 Art

Year 2 have been working hard with our two artists Megan and Elizabeth over the last few weeks. The children completed their amazing ‘rolling moon’ artwork using clay and then decorating with paint. They were then painted and once they were baked in the oven were glazed.

Year 1 – Art Rubbings

Year 1 have been exploring print making using the rubbings method. We enjoyed discovering the effect that different textured objects could make to our art rubbings. We have explored our classroom and our outdoor area.

Year 1 – Science (Floating and Sinking)

Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed investigating the different materials submerged into a tub of water. We used words including buoyant and submerge to describe what was happening to each object. We used our knowledge of materials and their properties to make sensible predictions.

Key Stage Two Christmas Play

Year 1 – Large Scale Printed Art

During our art lessons over the past couple of weeks, year 1 have been getting creative by replacing paint brushes with our hands and feet to make large scale collaborative paintings.

Squirrel Visitor

Year 1 had a surprise visitor just outside of their window this morning. We loved watching the squirrel search for water, however we discovered that it was frozen. We all enjoyed putting some fresh water out.

Year 1 – Odd and Even Numbers

Year one have been learning all about odd and even numbers. We have used Numicon to help us recognise the ‘odd one out’ and group our numbers to 10 into odd and even groups.

Climbing Frame Fun

Our KS1 Aiden children enjoyed our first dry day of this year on our school climbing frame. Let’s hope we have a lots more dry days in 2024 so that all of our children can enjoy the frame!

Year 1 – Maths

Year 1 have been developing their understanding of numbers within 100 by grouping items into 10s. We have then used our knowledge of counting in tens and ones to find out how many cubes we had in total.

year 1 have been learning all about the 4 seasons and their effect on deciduous trees. We have decided to use this as the theme of our New Year Calendars.

KS1 Nativity

Year 1 – Joan Miro Art

Year 1 have been enjoying learning about the artist Joan Miro. We have analysed his early work and created our own versions.

Year 1 – maths

In maths this week, year 1 have been learning all about shapes and how they can be used to create different images. We enjoyed creating tangram images and investigate tetromino and pentomino arrangements.

Year 1 – Science

Year 1 have just started to learn all about everyday materials. We have been thinking about what each object is made from and used describing words shiny, dull, hard and soft to describe and sort the different objects.

Year 1 Science

Year 1 have been learning all about their 5 senses. We looked closely at our sense of smell and investigated if we could identify an item based off its smell. We found chocolate and coffee the easiest.

Year 1 PE

Year 1 have been spending lots of time practising their sending and receiving skills. This week, we have been focusing on dribbling the ball, sending and stopping the ball. We are getting very good at using our bodies to change direction and using the inside of our foot to kick the ball.

Year 6 Tag Rugby

The tag rugby competition was such fun!  Fourteen of us went to Dryden fields to compete.  We won all our matches – one was won by 8-0!!  We came first in our group and all receive medals and a place in the finals. The whole event was very exciting and we all had such a […]

Year 5 are currently reading and enjoying Goodnight Mr Tom. A trip to Beamish helped the children to experience how Tom felt as an evacuee. Year 2 Indoor Athletics ​

Mrs Thompson and Mrs Fraser took 15 Year 2 children to Gateshead Stadium to take part in the indoor athletics festival.  All the activities were dinosaur themed, and the children took a very enthusiastic part in all events.
