News from across the school
The children from Year 2 led our collective worship this morning. They told us all about the signs and symbols of Baptism and it was lovely to see the children demonstrating a Baptism to us during the liturgy. [gallery...
Here are just a few pictures showing some of the maths activities that we have been doing in Year 3 so far this year. At the beginning of the term we went on a times table hunt around the school to remind us of our 2, 5 and 10 times tables facts. Also we looked at different methods of adding and subtracting money. We particularly enjoyed the shopping task in our very own ‘Year 3 Supermarket’. We also explored the properties of 3D shapes and had the opportunity to build skeleton versions of 3D shapes using straws and modelling clay!
Some of our Year 6 children and their parents were invited along to the launch of the Juice Festival project which we have been involved with during the last few weeks at school. It was great to see some of the work produced by our children, with help from some of...
As part of their Victorians topic, the children in year 4 looked at the entertainment during this period. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning about the puppet show Punch and Judy and were able to create their own puppets and perform a sketch in front of the whole...
Over the past two days Year 2 and Year 3 had the pleasure of working with the artist Helen Pailing. Helen taught us creative and inventive ways to recycle old materials to create pieces of art. We created our sculptures from old x-ray slips! Our final sculptures were all combined together to complete the final piece which was exhibited in Gateshead Library as part of the Juice Festival! As you can see from the pictures we all had a brilliant time in class creating our sculptures and we will all think twice before throwing scrap materials away again!
Some of the children from Year 1 found lots of amazing shapes in the outdoor area. They had their eyes open wide on the search for squares, rectangles, circles, triangles and even spotted an octagon and pentagon. How many shapes can you see on your way to school?...
