Great Exhibition of the North is a free, summer-long celebration of the North of England’s pioneering spirit.

The country’s biggest event in 2018, it will pack a programme of amazing exhibits, live performances, displays of innovation, new artworks and unforgettable experiences into 80 days.

Free events include:

Bridges is a magical tale following the journey of a man, a dog, and their small fishing boat, overcoming a series of challenges as they navigate the River Tyne to an incident at Dunston Staithes (the largest timber structure in Europe).
This animation introduces the bridges as colourful characters of the River Tyne and will be available to watch during the Great Exhibition of the North.

The UK’s largest water sculpture will perform hourly (10am-11pm) every day of the Exhibition. 80m long and reaching the height of the Tyne Bridge, with three specially commissioned soundtracks available to download. After dark the performance will include a stunning light display.
