We were delighted to have local artist Pui Lee to spend the day in our school on Thursday. She is helping the children to work in small groups to create Chinese lanterns made from willow branches. The activity was trickier than we first thought and the first task was almost a maths lesson as we had to make a 3D cube or cuboid for the shape of our lantern. This took team work and plenty of masking tape.
Once we had created a lantern shape then the next job was to cover it in cling film! Lots of us needed some assistance for this job as we got rather tangled up at times!
The final job was to then cover the lantern in tissue paper, we could choose one colour for each lantern from a range of beautiful colours. We are now waiting for them dry!
