The children from Year 1 had a wonderful day at Beamish Museum to finish their topic on Homes a long time ago.
As part of our visit we had to help do the cleaning at one of the pit cottages in the village. We had to clean the floor, scrub the pans and the miner’s boots. We also had to make the beds and tidy away the toys.
Our favourite job was helping with the washing where we used a dolly peg and tub and a mangle to squeeze the water out of the clothes.
So next time your children need to help with the housework they are all experts and will love to help you out!
